Hey guys just trying to gain some insights into what these sharks are like to keep.

I kept 2 Coral Catsharks alive for about 5 years with very minimal experience and they don't get that large had 2 females that only grew to 2 ft. In length also very hardy with the right filtration and stable water parameters.

Also believe they would have lived longer if I had the resources like the internet.

I voted for the brownbanded as I have kept a few bamboo species and was quite pleased with them;grows to a manageable size, good eaters but are not usually aggressive, and my favorite thing about them is once they lose their juvenile bands and coloring they resemble small nurse sharks.

Thanks for the response. I have to agree the internet has been a wealth of information. This really has been over a decade in planning for me, I just never had the resources or the space. But now that is changing so I have ramped up my research to more than just reading for pleasure. I have read numerous care profiles, books and watched many videos on each shark in captivity. It is amazing to the change in amount of info compared to 10 years ago.

My problem is I find there are pros and cons to each species :). Every couple of days I change between one of the three as to which I would like to keep.

Thank you for your info.

Thanks for the response. I have to say I really like them when they have slightly faded bands, or just noticeable bands, pretty neat sharks. The challenge for me with these personally is my foot print for the tank build is just at the lower end of acceptable for these. This kind of bothers me. Obviously bigger is always better, but I can't make the tank any bigger 4'x7'4x2'6". Any advise you have would be welcome.

That is certainly bigger than the tank that I had mine in.

I'm building a tank for our Bamboo and pair of Coral Catsharks that isn't much bigger of a footprint than what you already have. I'm going 8' x 4' x 2'. They are currently in a 300g which I think is the limit at their sizes now.

I really want to get an Epaulette Shark Egg right now for my wifes class to study and hatch this year, but coming up short on finding one. For the last 3 years her class has been studying Bamboo and Coral Cat eggs to find out what kind of shark egg it is and when it hatches the kids learn about the shark. By summer the sharks were the perfect size to avoid being eaten by our grouper we have home when moved from the classroom 40g Breeder tank to our main tank at home.

You have to make this build a thread..
