im in the process of making a 3d background but unsure whether i should use cement or drylok please help

this was a stupid question i figured cement would deteriorate but ive seen it used before on rocks and backgrounds
I wouldn't say it's a stupid question but a lot more detail to put the question in context would probably be helpful.
Well I've heared cement u have to do more water changes at first to lower ph .....I think you have its advantages it will help with the boyancy of foam...I used drylok....I'm liking it so far I dropped a piece of stryofoam nothing happened if it would of been cement maybe it would of broke...

But with cement doesn't it break back down into mush because of being soaked in water for so long? Then u would have to recoat it I think with drylok ill cut the background jus barely fit with a squeeze to keep it placed

Cement should not break down under water, no. It does tend to cause PH issues though; if you have the choice I'd use drylok.
Don't underestimate the bouyancy of foam; it weighs almost nothing so every gallon of water you displace with foam will result in about 10 pounds of bouyancy. For a decent sized background this adds up very, very quickly and wedging it in place won't be sufficient - it will likely need to be glued down unless it's quite thin.

I was affraid of that I have tank with fish in it and no place to store them right now so the best glue I can do really is half the tank only

I know u used drylok but with cement how does it cling to Styrofoam since there is no gritty surface
