Ade,
I had no intention of making anyone salivate.
I noticed there was an ID chart on the Dat section which I wanted to see, and then noticed lujor's request for information. As I knew the answer and he needed help, I thought I'd help someone who was a beginner with a fish I've kept on and off for forty years, been to their habitat, and researched the fish while I worked in SE Asia in aquaculture.
I mentioned the spawning events as they occurred in soft water as this addressed lujor's question. I posted to help a beginner, not to get into arguments or give a course on aquaculture (which I get paid for).
I' m not about to explain for half an hour why some guy can't find them under four inches. Like I said, he knows nothing about the fish business.
And I'm not about to respond to clowns who have an extraordinary number of posts where I couldn't find in any of them something that advances the knowledge of those viewing the threads that he make his three and four word posts in.
Why do I need evidence of something I did nothing intentionally to do and has been done before?
Anyone who thinks that you can make a fortune breeding them knows nothing about the economics of the aquarium fish business and besides, others are breeding them and were breeding them when I had the spawnings.
Quite frankly I can make more money breeding/doing other things and have and do.
I really don't care who believes me. If lujor is helped that's fine with me. That was my intention.
Whoever is using citric acid, probably shouldn't. It's subject to bacterial degradation until unless you hit about 3.0 pH with it.
I'd use phosphoric. The pH doesn't need to be six. Just below neutral should be fine.
Unless you're familiar with handling low pH water you may be inviting a crash going that low. However I don't know your circumstances so you may be fine with what you're doing. Too many variables not defined by poster, Fishes33.
Ade, to pursue such things you might start with joining international aquaculture organizations and researching their database what's been done with the species you're interested in... or related species which can put you on the right track.
