Which Stock did your gar eat?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have had very few losses from my gars. Some wood cats that I had forgotten were in the tank after not being seen for a couple months before the gars were added. The only recent deaths have been two datnoids that were both to large to eat yet were still killed by the gars.

haven't had a gar consume unintended live prey item in about 8 years (discounting larval stage cannibalism which is almost impossible to prevent). i've had gars kill things here and there in that amount of time, but not recently. honestly, if you follow the correct info posted on this forum, you should not end up with your gars eating other tankmates (gape limitation prevents a lot of consumption, but not necessarily killing).

assuming not everyone has looked through the info on the site, we can say that if the info was read and followed nearly all listed cases would have been preventable.--

The extreme prohibitive amount of my losses to gar was prior to discovering the MFK site (November of 2009). I had an extreme desperate need to find a "hobby" that promoted "peaceful, tranquil, relaxing, stress relief" in order to protect the public from my extreme aggressive nature. Tropical fish was suggested by many "correctional" and "counselor" AUTHORATAES!

I am nearly on a level of Human Being now from the slightly over two years in the hobby.

I have not felt the need to "choke out" anyone. I have not attempted to "yank" someone through their windshield in a road rage fit. I can count the "fights" I have been in on one hand with fingers to spare since finding fish keeping. I have not been stabbed or shot at since this hobby entered my life. I have only been caged in a 7' x 8' cell twice since finding this hobby. I no longer smoke MJ, to ATTEMPT to socialize with what I believe to be my species (human).

If I don't let my gars beat the crap out of something "fishy" I fear that I will beat up a bipedal locomotive, for poops and grins! I have spent tens of thousands of dollars on this hobby, and I believe it has saved my life. Some male get their aggression "pressure valve" from NFL football players being their gladiators, other turn to combat sports like Boxing, K1 & MMA to curb our natural predation. I am an NFL & MMA junkie, but it only fuels my extreme aggressive nature.

Years ago I had a gar eat a small jardini aro.
