hello all, I’m curious what shoaling species work well with angels and was wondering what other members keep in their angel tanks.

I have a 120g with 6 young red koi angels. Currently they live with a silver flying fox, a pair of African blockhead cichlids and 12 small rosy barbs.
I was worried adding angels when I already had the rosys but to this day they are both unaware of eachothers existance

I want to add a school of tetras to the upper area of the aquarium as the rosys stay near the bottom.

I need something that is colourful, wont eat plants, won’t be an angel snack and not overly nippy or aggressive.

Thanks!

Black Phantoms and Black Skirts. I had Boraras maculatus in there at one point. The angels didn't bother them, but they were eaten overnight by a betta I had to temporarily put in.

I also kept Serpaes with my angels. They actually weren't that nippy and caused no fin damage, although they did prevent my angels from developing streamers. I may be the exception though

I’ve kept black skirts many times over the years. They’re a cheap either for mbuna that work very well in my experience.

Right now I think I’m torn between red eye tetra and bleeding heart.
Bleeding heart are larger and my finnex planted + LED washes out blues completely but seems to work well for yellow, orange and red.

Sorry danios will no doubt be eaten by the angels, they’re medium sized now but they will eat danios if they can catch them.

You’re right the red eyes are kinda my all time fave too. But bleeding hearts get big and round.

Angels couldn’t eat a red eye?
These are my first angel group

Dunno about that. I've kept Boraras maculatus with my angels without a problem. Although the majority of them got eaten by a female betta I added about two months later, which gorged until it killed itself. I also managed to keep celestial pearl danios with the angel when my dad's 10g was in a pinch.

Then again, I might be an exception

Red eyes are actually fairly sizeable. Bigger than neons/cardinals anyways.

I had my angels with danios before with a few other smaller fishes like neon tetra etc

Black neons, glow lites, and kerri tetras

Okay, the reason why I say no danios or similar small fish is actually because I had 10 kerri tetra in my 120 about 3 weeks ago. Now I am down to just the 4 biggest. My angels still stalk them.
So I don't really want to introduce fish the same shape and size.

I`m really stuck between the red eyes and bleeding hearts
