im trying to decide between C. punctata or a C. missioneri. i believe both are wild caught, around 4", and asking $40 for each. im leaning towards missioneri but the punctata is tempting. i may have to get both. here is a pic of both of them

id have to say go with the punctata if u can only do one. i also agree that i dont think it looks like a missioneri... pic isnt to cleat but gut says lacustris.

altho i really think you should get both. that would be the best.

i decided to go with the punctata. i won't pick it up till the 13th when we have our atlanta fall auction.

i'm going to try it with my sveni but will separate them if needed

Your gut is well trained in the ways of Crenicichla yesh. As that was my first impression as well. Could just be the angle and clarity though. Are these fish coming from Ken Davis or Amazon Tropicals? I know amazon tropicals has both species listed, but since you are in Georgia I figgered you would be getting from Ken. Either way, they are both great at IDing pikes, so I'd take their word on ID.

Now we're talking!! I was gonna tell ya to go with the punctata, but I guess I didn't need to. :) Do you know if they were the 'blue' variant? Gorgeous fish 100%!!! Got quite large mouths toooo!!

they are from Amazon Tropicals, ken doesnt have any crenicichla right now. he'll be bringing them to our local auction in 2 weeks. they are the Blue 33 variant F0 from uruguay
