the super glue works great. to prime it plug the vent and drain with your fingers and suck on the check valve till you get nothing but water coming out the check valve.

No wonder it didnt work...

I was had both of the holes open lol

Will silicone and super glue work on the PVC instead of PVC cement?

I heard to seal those since they will leak so will the silicone bond to the PVC?

oh...

dang.. I just dont wanna go make a trip to town tomorrow lol...

If I try the silicone and it doesnt work could I just cement over it or do u know?

Silicone is fine, for these lower flow situations the seal will be good enough, just make sure all the connections are pushed in tight. Plus silicone will allow you to take it apart later, PVC glue basically melts the two pieces together, and is near impossible to undue. Though I don't recommend it, when I built my first overflow I didn't use any kind of glue at all, and I haven't had a leak yet.

UPDATE:

Ok, tried the silicone, messed up, now I need to cut another 2.25 inch peice of pipe and get 2 more 90 fittings...

I dropped the overflow, broke the nipple off of the check valve and it is lodge in my 2.25 inch pipe and my 90 fittinds are stuck together in it so im makin a trip to the store tomorrow to pick up some PVC glue and more pipe fittings...

Hopefully the overflow will be DONE tomorrow so I can worry about the panes of acrylic and design of my sump

PVC should be bonded with PVC cement. Its safe and permanent. don't take shortcuts on your fish life support.

If you bonded it correctly, you would have made two pieces of PVC into one solid piece. The cement "welds" the two pieces together permanently.

could I just rub some of it around the seams?

Im scared to take it apart again
