Which wood layout is more better? Please have a look.

If you are still considering 3 parrots, and a few Africans (hard to keep up) then you will be better served, or shall I say your fish will be, by decorating with the larger pieces, keeping in mind escapes, and line of sight barriers. A couple of large smooth bottom boulders might help as well.

I like the second pic better but I recommend adding some rocks and stuff for variety. The wood in the first pic looks like manzanita or spiderwood with some dragonstone, second looks more like Malaysian driftwood.

Im in the boat that doesnt care for either. Too much going on in both setups imo. I prefer a single or couple large pieces hung from the top of the tank. Simulate tree roots or branches that may have fell on the bank of a river or whatnot.
