where are you getting your xp3? and how much is it? i was thinking of running one in my 75g with one peguin 330 HOB filter.
the media that comes with it worked for me to get it going i them added more chem filtration later. i have one xp3 and 2 emperor 400 on my 125 they work great
I would rather do 2 AC110 (unless the tank is planted) simply because I hate the maintenance on canisters. My XP3s are way over-rated.
I would order some extra bio media of some sort, be it biomax or pot scrubbers, to take the place of the carbon.

by far the easiest, cheapest, and easiest to run is a homemade wet/dry. that's the way i would and did go. just check out the diy forums for ideas or pm me if you want (it doesn't have to look as bad as a lot of them on there, there's easy ways to make a cosmetically pleasing unit). they're also cleaner looking and not too hard to hide.
