Which would you rather have?

If I was going SA/CA, I wouldn't take either of these. I like something along the lines of an Amphilophus Hogaboomorum much better.
I no I do not have a big enough tank for a Dovii, and prob not a Jag either at the moment. I have a 90 gallon right now, might be able to upgrade in the future......this is why I might get the Jag. Just don't know!

But I'd do jag at the moment because of the size limits, sadly.
Yeah, you have to love the coloration of the Dovii, beautiful blues and greens. Some people need the pattern. I currently have a 13" jag and love his patterns. I would have a Male hondo Dovii too if I had the space for another tank.
I think everyone has very good input here. and personally its up to you what you would like to do. both are fantastic and depends on what you plan to do with the fish. i would get a small group say 3-4 of each and let them grow out together and choose down the road when you are able to distinuish color and personality
I would need an 800 gallon tank for 3-4 fish from both these species, then it would also most likely end up a blood bath.
not true. they are being offered at small sizes fry up to 3" and you could certainly get away with growing a group out in a 90 till you find the one you want. and a 90 will house either fish for a year or two then you would need to upgrade to a 6' tank. granted the growouts will fight and establish order and rank. but as long as you slim down the group as they grow picking out your favorites you wont have a really big prob till they reach 5" and dovii do grow faster than jags. but the group thing was just an opinion. and since you have a 90 then you would be safe with jags for a couple years if you got them small
