whiptail catfish

I saw one on an online store and they look pretty cool. anyone know anything about them like water perimeters, diet, min. tank size, etc?

There are many varieties of whiptail catfish

They belong to the family Loricariidae, There are many species under a handful of genera that are offered under the name whiptail catfish


The ones that pop up the most and are sold as whiptails are

Rineloricaria parva

99.99 percent of rineloricaria sold are in fact eigmannis. Loricaria/farlowella/spatuloricaria (especially as of late)/sturisoma are also fairly common in the trade.

I have tried a few times to keep farlowella, they need a lot of space to get around their bodies don't bend ! I find they are also hard to feed...and fragile , but they are awesome wish better luck then I have had...

F. acus and R. parva are the ones i see the most they're pretty cool and stay fairly small
