That link should give you all the information you need. Thats the only brand I use personally but there are other good ones out there.

one thing though...i just ordered ANOTHER whisper in-tank 40i...
since i thought i broke the filter since i had it out of the water when it was still plugged in.
so i'm thinking of putting the current filter cartidges from the 40i to the new 40i filter.. would that be o.k.?

i'll probably sell 2 filters and i'll buy a sponge filter at a local fish store. thanks!
and for the sponge filters, are they going to be on the tank bottom?

Yes...you can hide them behind fake plants or rocks.

It said below on the manual but.
the waterlevel in my tank is around a half inch above the lip of the 40i...
will it still work properly? it seems as if the water just goes straight now though...when i had the waterlevel lower, i can see that the water would fall below and then straight so that it'll reach the heater. now..
