I have 3 marble bullheads in my pond. They stay much smaller than the channel cats. The bullheads are much slower growing and stay much smaller.
Yes they look similar to blue. There is a fishing forum here. I just realized it the other day and I've posted a few things already.

+1 to bullheads, fairly active, VERY easy to catch yourself, and they're a good mix between scavengers/predators, really opportunistic like most catfish.
Around here (PA) a big one would be 14" I imagine if you kept a smaller one it wouldn't get much past 12"
