How do they do in warmer temps? Probably not good long-term. I know they will "live" in warmer temps, but probably not thrive, and could cause shortened life span....

Also-are they big enough to eat live bearer fry?

Wow, I've never seen them that cheap, but I would buy a lot :P

If my bichirs could co-exist with them well, I would have brought a bag of them

I would be careful I had a bichir take a bite out of one of my hatchets' tails once, so they aren't as slow as they seem. But then again depending on where you live these guys are cheap (hatchets down here are like 5 bucks each).

i love the way they look, one of my all time favorites, but i wish they would school. my group of about 30 swam all around the tank, occasionally schooling when they got scared or when i would change their water. do yours school tight? i traded mine for rasboras, they keep a nice tight school but are not as pretty imo.

@ laticauda - i kept them at 75f+/- no problems.

you should really post the article, then a link instead of just a link to your site...

I had white clouds school. In fact, they schooled with giant danios and zebra danios. They like a high flow area, try adding a powerhead, and they'll do it!

^ yeah i had a 300gph powerhead on them but they just all kinda did their own thing. :(

only thing i never tried that someone suggested to me was putting a large fish that won't eat them (like an angel or discus) in there to kinda keep them in line... anyone ever do that?

My Bichirs made short work out of my white clouds... at night. They snuck up on them and pounced.. was actually somewhat funny to watch. But no small fish stands much of a chance w/ bichir. sneaky sneaky buggers.

as for live bearer fry. TBH IDK I would say that it's possible they will. Since mine particulalry liked meaty foods. cichlid flakes, frozen brine shrimp ect where all eaten very readily. I did keep some larger amano shrimp with mine and they did fine.
