Anyone ever seen a pure white crayfish??????
I seen one at a local store and was wondering if it will keep its pure white color or fade to mud. Also can I put it with a Hammers cobalt blue cray???

yep, i have one.. it's colors wont fade as it grows older. how big's ur tank?? i keep mine in a 75g with a blue and orange lobster with few problems

I got few in pet store I work in. It's Procambarus Clarkii (North American crayfish) form called "snowball". They are imported from Thailand or Singapore from fish farms.

Yes, you can get that gene morph in a few species. The most popular and readily available is Procambarus clarkii (the red swamp crayfish). The color won't really fade, though as they get old they will start to get a little dingy and greyish. But for the most part, a well bred one with keep that beautiful coloration without fading.

The others are a bit harder to come by and you usually won't see them unless you're getting them from a breeder who deals with that specific species or gene morph. So, I doubt you're seeing those in the store.

You can't house them with Hammer's Cobalt, that's a gene morph of Procambarus alleni (everglades crayfish), which is more aggressive and territorial. You'd need a very large tank for the two species to inhabit it together without issue. Occasionally, they will survive together and even hybridize (on rare occasions) but for the most part the P. alleni will just eat the P. clarkii.

i have seen them readily available but depending on the size of the others you got idk on tank size
