This is the first time my Jags have spawned and about a dozen or so eggs are white and all the rest are clear. They were laid last night. Are the white ones the fertile eggs and the rest are not? Dont the parents look proud? I have only had them since about January or February and started them from about 2" or so. They are about at the 5.5" to 6" range now. I removed the female and put her in with my Festaes around 3" because she was soo agressive and added my male back in with her last week and this is what happens.

Anyone in southwest Wisconsin looking for Jags? These fish are in a 120g with my 4 Festae. The Festae are all bigger accept one. They seem to be tolerating the female Jag who has been keeping them away. She chases them periodicaly but everything seems OK. The Jags are at one end of the thank and my Festaes are at the other end. When they mosy over the female Jag chases them to the other side of the tank. Will she get more aggresive when the eggs hatch or stay about the same?

i would say she will get more agro... you my be looking at a problem in the near future.

my convict pair share a 55 gal with 1 large 7"+ red devil.
they fight on....and.....on......round.and.round
no one seems to win ?
you would think since the RD is bigger it would chase cons to corners...
but ,the cons stand their ground. being smaller and faster at circles the
cons escape the devil but don't hide.
verrrrry entertaining !

The clear eggs hatched today! I had to look twice. They started moving around and have little tales but look like they are almost glued yet to the flower pot. Where do you posters get rid of your frie to? Dose the LFS take them in on trade or credit?

every so often, a lfs will accept some fry for store credit, depending on the species and the LFS. I usually feed mine flakes, crushed pellets, bloodwroms and make em big n fat, then i feed the fry to my dats and Geo's.

My Piranhas will feast if I find no homes, thats if the Festaes dont get them first. How long dose it take for them to get up to a half inch?
