Came home today from work and I have a white build up on my tank. I was able to wipe most of it off and back into the water. Anyone know what this could be and how harmful this can be to my fish?

What water conditioner are you using?

The API brand

I can pretty much QUARANTEE that is what's causing it.

I used to use that, as well as ammo lock.. always made a film.

Switch to prime. Much better. No film. Last longer. :)

thanks man ... prime it is.

I'm curious where exactly was the film... on the surface of the water? on the inside walls of the tank? ... I'm guessing on the inside walls because you referenced wiping... but if you could clarify... Thanks dude!!

Mama it's on the inside of the tank especially on the back of the tank.

I get a film, I guess you could call it in my 40B but it's BB.... I can see it a lot on my manzanita wood too... How long has your tank been setup?? I notice this mostly with new setups.. Sorry if I'm asking too many questions.. but I use prime and a Tetra brand water conditioner and it still happens.. not to the point of irritation or anything.. but I could do without it... no biggie though..

My tanks been running for almost a year, i noticed it a few days after a water change and now one of my pretty little texas hybreds was a swollen cheek and eye. Damn it!!! The ups and downs of fish keeping.

Yeah tell me about it... so much deeper than a fish in water... good luck dude!! Hey what exactly is your little hybrid made of?... you know what other species?
