White film on Red Festae

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok so I have gotten the male healthy and out of quarantine. The female seems to be working through the disease list. She still has pop eye but I think the damage is permanent. She is eating from chop sticks because she cannot get food on her own. She has no depth perception. We are giving her 2 more days and if there is still no real improvement on how she swims or her health over all we will be humanly ending her little life. It has come down to quality of life and she cannot be a happy fish. We have come to the conclusion that from here on out we will be buying rare fish as fry and from hobbyist. We never have these problems when we buy fish 1 to 2 inches. In about 2 weeks we will be looking for about 10 to 15 red festae fry. My husband loves this species and we are not going to let this bad experience stop us from adding them to our home.

Well the male is doing great and the female is almost there. I have gotten her pop eye to finally go back in. There was major tissue damage around her eyes though. One side is healing but the other is a little slower. She still has really bad vision but is able to eat on her own. I am really thankful for that because it was a pain to feed a fish twice a day with chop sticks lol. I am still wondering about their color though. The male is is hunter green with a blood red belly and fins and she is lime green with black bars and a fire red fins. I have never seen a pic of a RF that is lime green. Now don't get me wrong I think she is beautiful but is the green normal?????
