White marks on turtles shells...

I have very hard well water but I've never noticed any mineral deposits on my turtle's shells.

i think it the water that is making that happen.. something is building up on it. cause my bro had a Florida red belly cooter and he had it.. we have hard water in CA LA and it causes that.. i dink, i might be wrong
