i cannot see it unless i look upward toward the light then focus on the glass , its very minimal , but enough for me to take action , i think the only food i put in that can escape being eaten is the bloodworm as it just blows around all over the place due to high water movement ,, and any pellets i put in definatley get eaten , i have only added the sand this week so its not like the sand is full of old food ,,
i may just stick to the pellets for a week and monitor the situation with a partial wc every eve ,

a good thing to do is shut off the filters for a good 20 minutes during feeding times. but it puts a strain on some filters restarting them causing them to fail prematurely. thats why i just give a good vac and feed them at the end with no filter.

That's so true: sometimes you can turn off just one piece of equipment long enough for the fish to feed, just enough to stop the turbulence, but you do have the problem of re-starting it.
