I have a pbass that was "slightly" injured by jumping and hitting the cross brace. Also had a nick on the nose. The dorsal fin was getting white as well as the nick on the nose. I was super concerned. Fungus? I treated with just a little salt (one cup in 120gal) and Stress Guard (fairly large dose). All this was done after an 80% water change (includes sump water 100% change) and gravel vac. I continued treatment for a week. Large water changes every third day. Continue salt. After a week 90% helaed and now just water changes and some stress guard.
I always use VitaChem on water changes.
I say this because the slime coat on injuries can be whitish and cause concern. #1 is water needs to be very clean.
Ich should be speckles on various areas of the fish or all over. Some fish get primarily in gills but you will see flashing.
