'White' Pearl Update Thread!

White tank treatment.

Ask the peddlers these days. They'll tell you that all this imported stuff must be kept in the same white tanks they come out of or the pattern goes to shiat.

Some call it "grooming" . Others call it lying.

I almost feel sorry for the people that are trying to aquire rays today. Very hard to place trust in anyone to get pure unmanipulated rays that are really what they are marketed as. Hell even most pics taken of rays these days look messed with......

That being said I DO think a white Pearl exists.

Oh I'd agree with you. They're definitely out there, finding one is the tough bit.

It's a bit of a shame though but I suppose it's also nature of the beast with animals whose coloration is so dependent on their environment. I feel that often times those selling the animal aren't even entirely sure of it's lineage.

I found these young fellas today at a friends lfs today and kept thinking about this thread. One of them even has the ? Spots on it.

Would $600 be a decent price for healthy pearl pups? They are already eating pellets and market shrimp.

Damn. They look just like her when she was small lol. But I suppose it depends. $600 seems a little high but they're from your life, not some dude on mfk lol. Honestly, if you really like the fish and don't mind paying then go for it! Who cares what you paid as long as you love the fish and can afford it.

How long did you say you had her? I am just wondering, and suspecting that she would mature into a colour pattern more similar to the ones in the first photos after a few years? I’m a noob for sure but it just seems to me from watching all these progression shots of how the patterns change over time and maturity. I’m sure she will be a stunner of her own type.

Ps. I ended up with one of the above pictures today. Really like the patterns on him. I would have to say this was the thread that got my attention to pearls for sure so thanks.
