White Plains NY Reptile expo thread (September)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've been to white plains in the past, really need to sift through the common and unheathy. Picked up a hogg isle boa there maybe ten years ago.

there were a few sickly looking leopard geckos, savannah monitors and tokays. did anyone see that huge fat male tokay for $75? he was almost mine.

i just thought there was a huge lack of diversity this time..there were only 3 or 4 monitor species, and most of them were grossly overpriced, almost no tegus, and the ones they did have were hatchling B&Ws for $175.. if your a ball python, boa, or gecko lover..this would have been a great expo. i went there looking for monitors and was dissapointed.

There was a few big Red Tegus and Blue Tegus. And yeah I was hoping to see some more Monitors, not that I could buy one, just to see 'em.

Come to think of it, I did see a few Leopard Geckos and Fat Tails that looked like they could use a few more mealworms.

i saw one red tegu at one of the tables up the stairs, and one blue tegu near the stairs, i think it was in a 10gal or so. only saw 2 tables that had black and whites and they were tiny and way overpriced.

there were only about 3-4 people selling monitors and there were maybe 1-3 species a table..rouch necks, trees, timors and overpriced argus. i did see two peachthroats as well..but i wasn't about to touch one for a $300 price tag.

Yeah there werent alot of monitors/tegus. I did like the blue tree monitor though(if that was the name) There were alot of skinny leos though.... I sifted through them till i got mine :D

i suspect the reason why there was a monitor shortage, was because regal reptiles wasn't there. they usually have ackies, black throats , argus, peachies etc. too bad the owner decided he was into child p0rn and was arrested about 2 weeks ago.

the blue tree was nice, had an OK price tag as well. anyone see the $1500 CBB baby green tree? best looking one i've seen in a while. nice and plump..and vivid green color.

i have to get some pics up on the baby timors i picked up, they were my backup if i couldn't get an argus..thank god there was one guy selling them. $75ea but got 3 for $200. already eating too.
