Last night I noticed that my large Chinese AE had some white scummy / powdery stuff on his back and on one of his eyes. There was also something stringy on his caudal fin, which looked like it had been nipped by another fish.
At the same time, I noticed a similar substance along the spine of my African Knife, whose name is Mr. Joshua McKnifersons. His eye also had white stuff.
I also have 5 bichirs of various species and some congo tetras in the tank, none of which showed any signs of this. My nitrite / nitrate / ammonia is all at or about 0. Temperature is about 81 - 82F.
The white stuff is hard to describe...it's kind of powdery and kind of scummy. It doesn't look like ich.
I could be several of the diseases described here: http://www.fishboard.net/diseases.html
But none of those fit it exactly.
I should also say that the large AE and one of the bichirs, and endli, were put into the tank on Sunday. They both looked perfectly healthy at the time, and the endli still does.
Any advice?
