Does your festae like the sand? Mine loves to sift the rocks, and rearrange things. I feel like if I get sand I will deprive him of all his fun. He feeds from the bottom alot too, afraid sand wouldn't support his dirty habits.

My Festae isn't much of a digger. My Jag, on the other hand, loves the sand. He's constantly carrying sand around piling it up in the corners and stuff.
