Have you tested your water?
Yes
If I did not test my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.
Do you do water changes?
Yes

Are you treating the fish in the main aquarium. The medicine may kill the beneficial bacteria on your biomedia.

Curious - why can’t salt be used? It’s one of the most effective treatments for freshwater ich generally safe for all fish.
Long term you definitely will want a filter in there.

I used salt on my loaches and puffers with absolutely no problems.
Most freshwater fish have a good degree of salt tolerance. The salinity used to treat ich is only about 1.002-1.003, which is still considered freshwater.

Ok, I will have a try which salt can I use I currently have rock salt and sea salt only

Table salt works. Sea salt should be the same makeup.
If you have medicine, it is usually safe to use, salt’s just gonna be cheaper.
