Hey guys,
It's very important that I treat this fast, I diagnosed it last night and in about an hour I will go out to get some meds but any other ideas or suggestions please help! I really don't want to lose any of my fish! So far it is only the loaches and the mollies who are scratching.
Cheers Guys!!

~~BUMP~~

Come on someone, please help me!

If your certain it is ICH, then you can try the "natural" cure.

Heat to 85+ degrees and add salt @ 1 tablespoon/5 gallons.

That's the only method I use for ich and it has always worked.
BTW, can use Morton Water-system salt from Home Depot. 40 lbs for $5 !!!

EDIT: I see your in New Zealand (maybe no Home Depot, just goto Hardware store). If you can get ANY water-softening pellets (salt) that will be a cost effective way of getting salt.

same thing happened to my girlfriend's tank just yesterday, when she came home she found 2 angels, 2 clown loaches, 6 tetras and 1 pleco dead. We did a little research, and apparently you have to turn your heater to 31 C and it will go away as quickly as it came.

ok this is what you need to do. bump your tank temp up to 86 degrees Fahrenheit

do this slowly so not to stress the fish. also add aquarium salt to the tanks 1 to 2 tablespoons per gallon. i personally used 1 per gallon and it worked fine. if you do a water change and take out 10 gallons and replace, put about 8 more tablespoons of salt back in. dont put more salt in unless you change the water tho. after about a week the ick will go away and no chemicals or medicines. i bought this stuff thats made by kordon. called rid ich. it dyed everything in my tank including the silicone seals blue. if it wouldnt have worked out so good with my color scheme id probably would have been even more upset but i learned to deal with it. now i just use the salt and heat method. it speeds up the life cycle of the parasites and they cant survive and reproduce in the high temp or level of salt. ill post the link to the thread where i got this info shortly.

** they beat me to it, i type to slow haha. but ill still post the link

Ok thanks guys, Im sure its ICH i've seen scratching and the spots now. And i will turn up the heat now and soon will go to get some meds.
Cheers.

no don't use salt with the loaches!!!! mollies will be fine in salt but not loaches.they are scales and the salt irritates their delicate skin. turn the heat up gradually in the main tank and do daily small water changes so the others hopefully will not get it. if the fishes are in the same tank as your avatar the salt and heat might also kill of your plants.remove the fishes that have ich to a seperate qt tank and dose them with meds coppersafe rich ich is a good med for ich.don't know whether you have them there.if not use the methylene blue but only use it in the qt tank as it will stain deco and sealant in the tank..

dont use meds for fish that can tolerate salt. it works much better and safer. trust me. here is the link its a sticky on this section of the forum. post number 2 is what talks directly about ick and treating it.

i dont know much about loaches so id check into that tho. good catch there kitten_penang

Ok thanks so ive raised the temperature now and will do a waterchange (5-10%) everyday for a week. Dont want to lose anything!
I wont use salt because the loaches would probably get worse.
Cheers for that guys anyway.
