white spot on Gar's head???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for all the help, I didn't think it looked like an illness, but I'm new to Gar, I mostly keep cichlids and plecos. As far as decoration the tank has flag stone, I didn't think of the possibility of a scrape, like I was saying, the fish appears normal other than the wound.I just tested water and everything is normal. I know nitrates can't be "0" it's actually between 5.0 and 10 according to API Freshwater Master test kit, just said 0 because I was in a hurry last night. I also was trying to avoid meds as I read Gar don't take well to them. So I guess I'll just keep an eye on it, and keep up on my water like normal.

So this is an up date on one of my gar, the white spot on his head seams to be spreading again. It was fine but now looks worse. I don't know what to do about this, any help or advice is welcome. I have been keeping up on water changes every 4 days of 25-30 percent. All water parameters are good, ammonia 0 nitrite 0 and nitrate 10-20. He is still acting normal and eating normal. These are some pictures I just took as I wrote this. Thanks
