I notices a white spot on my gar today not sure what it is but I would appreciate any help. I got him from a friend about 6 months ago and he has been fine since, I did upgrade his tank he was in a 55 gallon and I upgraded to a 120 gallon because he grew from 12 inches to 16. he has been in the new tank for about 3 days I used most of the water from his old tank. he is housed with a convict, pleco and cuckoo cat20181024_213659.jpg 20181024_213702.jpg

Apologies.. Maybe its just me but I'm not really seeing what it is you are talking about in the photo.

It looks just like a slight discoloration. Go_redfish Go_redfish the 2nd picture look between the body fun and the wrinkly plant. It’s a kind of a light milky white.

Ok. Had to turn the brightness up on my phone all the way but I see it now.

Any changes to the tank? What are your water parameters?

ammonia and nitrite at 0 and nitrate tested at 20 ppm Go_redfish Go_redfish , I noticed him rub that side on some gravel and I never seen him do it before but my convict will occasionally rub up on the different decor in my tank

Hello; let me guess. My guess is the fish got a scrape at some point. Maybe during the transfer or crashing around in the new tank before it got use to the place. just a guess.
Your water is not out of bounds but this is where some might either step up WC or add some sort of chemical. Some suggest a bit of salt or other stuff I do not recall the name of.
I would up the WC and keep an eye on the fish myself.

Rubbing offten indicates an irritant. If he were in my own care I would pull a few scrapings off the discoloration and confirm it under a microscope. Usually I find colmaris with symptoms like we see here. I'd be intersted to hear other opinions too.

Don’t look like much. Would just watch. Should return to normal. Make sure ur pleco is fed.
