White spots? What are they? OMG!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Heaters gaurded or in sump? Any snails? Tankmates? I can't tell by pics, just throwin out possabilities. All stuff I've had issues with.

Thanks DB Junkie,

I have two 250W heaters that are not guarded. I don't think it gets that hot though, but who knows. No snails or anything besides a black arowana.

Hope this info helps!!

The white spots look just like normal raised areas of bumps that i have seen on lots of motoros.
it would not hurt to give your substrate a clean as an outside chance it could be high levels of bacground bacteria in the gravel.

it is not heater burn but!

get those heaters covered NOW!!!!!!!!! ask any of the people on here how horrible heater burns are on a ray. they might not feel hot to you but they WILL BURN YOUR RAY.

so please for the rays sake cover them now.

the spots are from stress or water quality. some of my pups got them b4, a few good water changes and they went away.

You should be able to find some heater guards in your lfs if not I am sure there was a thread on here aboutr a diy one so try a search.

Important thing is to make sure you get them covered or move them to the sump if you have one.

lol no white spot disease just white spots. i was being factitious. all my rays have them. NORMAL

i have them on my rays ant it has nothing to do with water quality. it seems to me that they pop up as the rays grow. they are like humam goose bumps.
