White-spotted Bamboo

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well - in theory - I would guess about 3 years. Maybe 4 years - although this could be pushing it - if the White-spotted grows abit faster than expected.

Basically you should have a larger pond/tank for it by the time it reachs 30" in length.

Off hand - I would drop the Angel.

Generally speaking the worst tank mates for benthic sharks - a side form very small fish - are the Angels, Triggers, Puffers, & (IMPO) Lions. All 4 groups are know to pick at, injury - or possible Kill a Benthic shark.

Don't forget about Butterflies, Ken. :)

Good point - Butterflies are also bad tank mates for sharks.

Generally you'll want to stay away from the following groups as potential tankmates for a shark - Triggers, Angels, Butterflies, Puffers and most venomous fishes(including Lions).

i hatch eggs all the time at work just put them in a vegi clip till they hatch they may take awhile to eat after they hatch

I had a two footer that I traded about a year ago. When they are small ,around six to eight inches in length, the best thing for them to eat is earthworms as the bamboos and bandeds have small mouths and they can suck the worms down easily,it also fattens and strengthens the youngsters. My sharktank is in my basement and it faces a small window so I hardly use the tank lights, remember these are nocturnal creatures and mine are active during much of the day without the lights on to annoy them. Most of the bamboos that are sold in the stores have to languish in small tanks with the lights on all daylong and being stressed out untill they are sold[rescued].

earthworms is not a very good shark diet... I would feed pieces of squid, clams, fish, crab, etc.

That's what I'm thinking.
