I wonder if the flip over was due to a bloating after eating etc...I would bet they have been nibbling out of aggression due to the lack of food for the short time.....mine do it if the skip a meal or two.

That can be a tell, tell sign of an amonia spike coming on.. if the ray was fine before hand, then started to get those symptoms possibly due to over feeding with alot left over prior to you leaving for a couple of days. im not here to point fingers just trying to help with the possibilities.
may i ask what you feed your rays? because un eaten food thats left over causes this problem from my expieriences.. but i am not an expert!

Makes me lol when people put this they know NOTHING about ray but still comment

A lot of diseases and symptoms cross reference and do not pertain to any specifics nor are they selective, sorry to have replied in your elite presence. If I knew there would have been a person that knew everything and anything was going to reply to help I would have not posted.

I've seen slime coat shedding with ammonia/chloramine present in tap water if a water change was done.... effects the scaleless fish more so.

x2, nibble marks. My Hens have the same thing going on occasionally.

I have the same marks on my rays. Definitely down to nibbling. Thought it was start of fungus but it never develops into anything more than what you see in the pics

Strange how the ray was flipped over though???

They are eating market shrimp and no its not from left over food. I fed them the night before I left, and I always double check my ray tanks before I leave for anywhere overnight. Thanks for input tho :)

Thanks put me at ease a bit but the male leo was flipped over on his back after WC...had to help him out with net and then next day he is eating normal again...really confused. I watched him while he was on his back for a while and he def wasn't able to get himself back to balance on his own.
