I started treating my 100 g tank with prazipro 1.5 wks ago... Now my festae, thai silk, and green terror are having more white stringy poop than before... otherwise they are still very active but appetite is noticably down. Is it common for prazi to make them have more white stringy poop to eliminate it from their system or is this disease getting worse. The water is also heated to 86 degrees and i'm adding salt periodically. Any response would be appreciated... thanks!

Im doing prazi treatment as well for bloat in my beanis. All the other fish in the tank are fine and eating and crapping normally except for the sick beanis. They are crapping white stuff more and Id like to think that this is them passing the bad stuff but I dont know..... Good luck...

hey robmcd! yeah my tank is the same... all the other fish are eating and crapping normal. i'd like to the sick guys are clearing the infection as well.

Its possible intestinal sloughing as well from the med clearing out the parasites.
Is this a good thing????

Use metro
Don't advise switching meds until treatment course is done.

Rob and Bull, msjinkzd is right. Internal parasites such as tapeworms tend to invade not just one fish but almost all fish. It's possible that the mucus of the intestines may be expelled but so are internal parasites that you end up vacuuming on the bottom looking dead. Was it the treatment schedule I gave you that you followed? It should effectively clear out all parasites. In the meantime, add garlic on their foods if you haven't yet. Aside from coaxing them to eat, garlic irritates the internal parasites as well.

Garlic if fed in high enough concentrations for a duration can actually change the pH of the intestine causing an inhospitable environment for parasites. Elosyn is foudn in its highest concentrations in the oil of garlic, so that is your best bet and a concentration of about 2%. This needs to be fed for 6 weeks to really rid of parasites, so using it as an appetite stimulant and long term preventative is a good idea.

yeah lupin... thanks for that dosing schedule for the prazi. i'm using it. the last couple of days they have been expelling more white stringy waste. it seems today it is a bit less. fish are still really active, but still not eating. i havent added the garlic yet... need to get some. do i just chop it up and put it in the tank? or do i crush it and mix the food with it to coat the pellets?
