you want to crush the garlic to try and extract the oil. Then you mix that with the food (let it sit fora few minutes). Jarred garlic is easy to use. There are also prepared garlic extracts sold within the hobby.
sure thing, be forewarned, the food will then sink so feed sparingly at first. I typically will drop a few pieces in, let them eat, then add a few more.
