RiverMonsterFisher;5136046; said:Really? How do you clean the sand? I always thought about getting sand instead.
Gruntking;5136154; said:Just siphon over it. ITs just seeing where the waste is and scooping it
Gruntking;5136293; said:Yea if you're going to go with sand definately dont get Play sand or very fine sand since your cichlids are pretty big. With Pool Filter sand the sand wont get sucked up.
BB definately has an advantage due to the cleaning though... It's up to you
Water;5136272; said:What Gruntking said. There is a drawback to using sand as well. Sometimes it gets sucked into your filter and that could potentially break your filtration unit. Sand would be a much better alternative than gravel, 1 being that sand looks more natural and your fish will enjoy it a lot better since they are cichlids.
The only drawback for BB tanks is it might look very plain and drab. I like the look and cleaning is so simple. I just siphon out whatever wastes I can see collected on the bottom.

Gruntking;5136369; said:Yes the junk does not go underneath unless a fish was to bury it with sand. In that case, you should stir up the sand every once in a while. I usually do so once a month since i have eartheaters
