white sturgeon

has anyone kept a white sturgeon? they are about the coolest looking fish. they get way to big for any aquarium besides seaworlds. but thats almost not stopping me. we do have a stock pond just shy of a lake. just kinda curious if anyone has kept a sturgeon here.

my LFS has about ten at 5inches long for 15 dollars each

White sturgeon are federally listed as an endagered species. http://ecos.fws.gov/speciesProfile/profile/speciesProfile.action?spcode=E087

Either the pet store has them labeled wrong or you should be reporting them immediately.

Even if its labeled as white, it may not be. my sturgeons id is currently in question.

CLd u house a sturgeon in a 5000 gallon tank or wl du need a 15,000

With a maximum length over 6 meters (20 feet), I don't think one could be housed in captivity. But Georgia is trying to house whale sharks, so maybe I am wrong.

Its more than likely a sterlet or Acipenser ruthenus. I can bet. I have seen them labeled white sturgeon before. look it up on google.

the price is pretty good to for a sterlet. they go for $20 at 5 inch around here

True, they get 20 feet. but HELLA slow (see pic).

when u google it the same pics come up so im not to sure. this place has been open since 1971 so im hoping they know what they are talking about. but iunno. i didnt buy it but im almost tempted to sat up another tank just for one....
the pics i did see of the white looked alot like them...
