Hello everyone. I got my White Suam last Friday. He was in the box for 3 days. He looks healthy. He is about 3 inches long. He is in a 72 gallon Bow Front by himself swimming all over and having fun. He does have long stringy poop and doesn't want to eat. I decided to treat his tank with API General Cure. It's been 48 hours and I have to treat the tank again. How long does it take to get rid of internal parasites and shouldn't he be hungry?

He should be hungry right now for his size. He should be okay up to 2 weeks without eating. If he won't eat frozen bloodworms, then there's definitely internal parasite/sickness. That's always my test for being picky vs sick. Keep the lights above the tank off.

I would do maximum dosage period per the instructions at a minimum.

If API General Cure doesn't work, then I would treat with levamisole HCL. This treats for different worms that are not treated by API General Cure. This can be found in Fritz Excel-P. You can get from Amazon or kensfish (https://kensfish.com/products/fritz-expel-p?_pos=4&_sid=e85b326af&_ss=r)

OK. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

Hello. I tried him with the bloodworms and he LOVED them!!! Is there anything else I should feed him. What does the white poop mean?

If the poop is white, clear, and/or stringy then it could be a sign of internal parasites. It’s good to feed them “fresh” foods like bloodworms or brine shrimp since it’s easier to digest when it’s recovering and has enough roughage to help pass the worms

I meant what does the white poop mean if he doesn't have internal parasites? I have treated him with API General Cure.

Have no clue honestly. If I see white stringy poop, I deworm asap. But diet could affect poo color as well. It could also be sloughing off it’s intestinal lining or passing worms if you’ve recently dewormed. Perhaps someone else could chime in
