Guys bought a new bichir but doesn't know what type it is.. lol.. looks like either lap or ansorgii.. but not sure.. bought it coz good bargain on it,shop owner said it's WC.. he's either very washed out or patternless.. help me id this fella.. many thanks..

The shape of the dorsal fins, and the protuding lower jaw (more exaggerated than what is normal for lower jaw bichir).

The pattern may never come out, it depends on the quality of the farms breeding stock.

Just banged my head against the table....We here don't take that Chain Store Name Kindly....It's definately a Polypterus bichir sp. but IDK on the subspecies(sp)

Laps are picky about their environment. With white substartes present I dont think it will show the pattern. Try red sand and see in about a month. If not, then the genenetics itself have to do with it.
