Ok thanks guys, was sold to me as a polleni just it didn't really look anything like the mature one we have which is why I asked.

I'm putting my money on a JD. He said is had olive green color and it has the right spangles.

oops sorry i just saw it was a polleni. I was distracted by my dog.

Here is a quote!
"It should be noted that according to a recent DNA analysis performed , the "Paratilapia polleni Large spot" collected by Jean-Claude Nourissat and Patrick de Rham in Andapa is a distinct yet undescribed species. Therefore, until this species gets a new formal name of its own, we will call it "Paratilapia sp. Andapa".

This is based on DNA proof......what else needs to be said. You are wrong! I have done the research and educated myself on this. I wont waste my time trying to educate a fellow fish enthusiast that doesnt want to learn!

where did I say I disagreed with you? Your assumptions are silly.

Just wanted to report this guy eats like a machine, it has a similar urge to eat as the oscars I used to have. He ate 7+ hikari carnivore pellets over the space of 16 hours and its only ~3"! I moved him into my festae growout tank because ive been concerned about the bigger polleni's dawn hunting, past two morning ive been woken up to repeditive splashings..

Will keep you guys posted on the power-feeding/growth!

Ps - Side note is that he has a different shape to JD/Texas, the spangles are also heaps bigger then similar sized JD/Texas too.
