he is in a 75 gallon right now. still shy but that will go away with time. he wasnt buoght from a chian pet store. so ill ask the owner when i see him next.

Looking at the mouth and head I would say Parrot crossed with Flowerhorn (with the spangling in the fins and body)
Crossed with Carpintis maybe? has the same kind of facial profile. and would explain the spangling.
other than that I suppose it must be just a less deformed parrot. after all short body defect can effect any cichlids, so maybe this was the opposite, the short body of the BP gene didnt come out how it should and the fish was born with a full length body.

Grant isn't going to be able to tell you anything more than what anyone here has, that being your fish is a hybrid. What its exact genetic make up was is at this point anyones guess.
