Who Else Is ADDICTED to Changing Their Tanks Very Often?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I used to be like that switching monthly. Then i got more tanks.. Then i moved and downsized, now i have one 125 and i have other hobbies breaking my bank so im cool with my tank being as is...

I don't, but one of my friends constantly changes around his 120 (4x2) and uses that as an excuse to buy monster fish that will outgrow his tank.

wanting to experience many different specie setups is why so many adults here have wall-to-wall tanks & fish rooms :nilly:

I get attached to fish, feel responsible for them, and have nowhere good to re-home them. It prevents me from your switch-up-stock syndrome.
Unfortunately, it's somewhat frustrating. My 180G will try to "compromise" with a wider variety of peaceful stock.
Maybe someday a 180 for some CAs.

Eventually you may end up knowing which are your real favorites, and settle down with a very nice tank of "that".
Or two tanks. or three.
Lol.

I am always itching to improve what I have. Sometimes that means new equipment (lights, filters, DIY stuff) and sometimes that means different gravel or plants. Sometimes that means different fish.
I have found that I am a dreamer and if I don't have some grand plan on what my tanks are going to be one day, I am not as interested in the hobby.

I know exactly what you mean!! When I had my big midas for a while, I found that after like 5 months of having him, I became less interested in the tank. It was super cool at first then I slowly noticed I just was losing interest and I surely didn't like that lol it's like having new species a lot keeps everything very exciting I like working out a plan that I like to be carrying out. I will say tho it helps to get new stuff/improve the filters and do new aquascapes that helps

i feel growing out fish to full size,is half the enjoyment.i do find that i have a habit of re-scaping.or add filters, decor, etc.i like go on rock and driftwood searches.now doing a few nano tanks, haha.

I'll admit that I couldn't find my way through the valley of the shadow of death that is the OP, but I'll address the subject line's question.

I like to do big water changes and often. I've found my GATF is happier with pristine water. I normally do a 50% every 3-4 days.

:lol2: THAT is EXACTLY what I thought this thread was about, until reading it all.

Yeah I'm still in the new aquariumist stage so I loved to change my tank or find new things to make it cooler and better. I have a 55 gallon and have probably pumped 500 into it trying to get it perfect.

I feel the temptation sometimes, but I really don't like bringing fish in my care to the lfs and a highly uncertain fate. Luckily, my general laziness often prevents me from changing up the stock in my tanks, as much as I would like to.
