Who else on the forum keeps/has kept (Salminus Maxillosus) Golden Dorado? Experience?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There's one at the LFS close by... it's about 10" for 50usd. I've debated it a few times now and still not sure.

Worried this guy will do damage to my other fish in the comm.

I dont think it was a dorado if its the same one i saw

Try and post a pic! I'd like to see either way.

Also I want to see if anyone can find a picture of a golden one in a home tank... I haven't found one to post yet!!

Do a search over on the other predatory fish site for a member named "Triggeraa"

His were the first gold ones I've seen in a home aquarium, and also the first time I had seen decent sized ones living together.

His trio was awe inspiring.

What about with a Jardini thats 2"-4" longer than the dorados? My jar has been friendly so far and got pushed around by my Pbass, but dorado arent Pbass. What do you guys think. Either way I'm adding 2 dorados to the jardini tomorrow.

have never kept a jardini, so not really sure, but i think that because they occupy different parts of the tank it'll will help... i'd say should be fine

Sent from my DROID RAZR using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

This jar cruises the middle of the tank not the top. Anyway I'll update tomorrow evening after I can observe them for a while.

Dorado causes problem with its own kind more than with other fish. They're active, can take care of themselves. I miss my pack
