Who got their rays on Pellets?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Pellets are ok but never let it be the main food. Most of the time it has color endhansers (proberly not well spelled ahahhahaaah) I've seen motoros with white spots turn into bright orrange spots. T1Karmann also has experiance that his P14 pups. Also the digestive system of the ray need the stuff thats in shrimp smelt and that kind of food.

very true they do change the color of the rays :D

its best to give lots of diffrent foods my rays eat prawn meal worm blood worm but pellets are their fav food

i feed all the other fish in my tank 1st and what ever meal worms and prawns the other fish miss the rays get then i feed the pellets

all my motoros will eat hikari massivore, but i do use mazuri aquatic gel as my science dieted food. it is a little more cheaper to feed. i did not know that there can be complications by feeding exclusively on a science diet food. so far the raw foods are still cheaper so they still get a variety of food in there diet.

not really complecation what i found was the adults were feeding on pellets as their main food when pups were born they were a funny color the spots were nore yellow/orange when they should have been white

it was no big deal and after a few weeks of the pups births and eatting other foods like blood worn/black worm the color turned to normal

it would be a good thing for motoro

Old post but im interested on this line. Is there any conclusion here?. After some months of trying to get my MM started to eat Hikari Massivore as his main diet he finally get them as his favorite, and yes, his color has changed but he keeps in good shape. Im thinking about include some other brands of pellets in his diet like NLS Thera A+ Jumbo, and he´s currently eating the Ocean Nutrition pellets for bottom dwellers (normal and w/spirulina) very well. I think that there is no problem with let him with pellets diet only if the diet includes a wide variety of components. Im also about to buy the Mazuri Gel cause he eats very well the Ocean Nutrition Shark Formula wich is also part of main his diet.
What do you think????....

Best regards

hikari is the only company tht does any research at all. i will only ever feed hikari pellets. 5/6 of my rays eat pellets. those look the best, grow the best, show the best. that my conclusion.

I must disagree with you about this statement. Hikari does great research, but so does Mazuri and a few others.

I have my rays on Silvercup sturgeon diet sinking extruded pellets and Mazuri gelatin based diet for sharks and rays. Mazuri and Silvercup are very reasonably priced.....and made here in the states. Both are customizable. Try that with Hikari. :naughty:

All in all pellet feeding rays, for me, is the single best option for my long term rearing and breeding. Fresh foods act as supplements, not really needed.

FireMedic.

I'm trying to convert my rays from frozen blood worms to Hicakri carnivore sinking pellets.
I have been removing the cover of the frozen blood worm cube tin and wait until it defroses. I then crush the pellets into powder and places some in each cube. I have done this for the past 2 days and so far he, Angel (my ray) eat a bunch and when I place in a few pellets with out the worms he took one.
