I'm addicted. 5 plecos, 4 different species at the moment. They can sometimes be a problem if you like other types of bottom dwellers, such as bicher for example.

Why is that? Is it because they are territorial? Or are they known to suck the slime coats? I'm curious as I will be getting an L200 soon and I will also have bichirs. I can keep them in separate tanks though if necessary.

I got a pair of Zebra plecs (L046) cant wait till they start breeding :D and i got a 5" L190 royal

They have been known to suck slime coats. But with that said, it is also argued that it is from lack of food for the pleco. IME my plecos are well fed and I never had a problem with that. I believe you can mix them but there is the possibility of it not working out depending on the territorial nature of the fish and the slime coat sucking issue. Another concern may be the dietary needs of the pleco may be different from the bircher. The L-200 should have mainly veggies with little protien.

For me, plecos are one of the best fish in the hobby. I currently have 15 different types of plecos totaling over 40 plecos, and none are commons. In my past I have had well over 40 types of plecos.
