Who has blind fish?...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All the dead fish I fish out in my fish keeping life lack their eyes...A smart parasite should migrate to the eyes to carry on life after host's death...

I have a mated paid of angels, both of them with only 1 eye but one of them is blind on the other! Still going strong after a couple of years.

That's very sad! I would have put him in quarintine but knowing what I know now its obvious the other p's would pick him off, of course in the begginging of my fk id prlly have kept him on there like u. Cool story tho!

I thought about a different tank for him but the other 3 are striving well. And if he died anyway it would've been pointless. :( I got them when they were tiny and now the 3 are getting big and eat better than me. Lol. And the 3 I have now all have one eye each. And they do great!!

I have an either blind or very stupid comet goldfish. He swims into the glass walls of the tank and he always misses the pellets. He might have been blinded because when I first got him he jumped out of my tank and onto the ledge of my 15 gallons hood which was on the edge of the lip which holds the lights. He was there for about 3 minutes before i knew he was there. He jumped down and back into the water and hid eyes were bright white for a day or two. I think I dryer his eyes by accident

I have a NGT that is for sure blind in one eye and most likely completely blind in the other. Surprisingly he catches no flack from any tankmates and took Massivore without hesitation. I had to sell him to a fellow MFKer but just recently bought him back in a similar situation. He hasn't eaten as much since I got him back but I expect that it's because he's still getting the layout of the tank down. It really hasn't been as difficult caring for a blind fish as you'd think.

I have a striped raphael with 1 eye. Not sure how/why, thats just how I got it.
I also have 2 Tandanus Catfish with no eyes. They where in with a bad ass fish at the store which likes to suck eyes out.

I dont know anything different for them. They can find the food easily and get their way around.

my ornate polypterus has one eye

I have a 1 eyed oscar and a 1 eyed clown knife.
I also have kept a one eyed Lima Shovelnose also. heres how they lost their eyes

oscar - tankmate
Clown knife - came into the store like it
Lima shovelnose - got spooked at slammed its eye into the corner of some slate and burst it

1 eyed fish live perfectly normal lives, my oscar is super aggressive and even used to catch and eat the feeders I put in for the clown knife.
The clown knife has now been weaned onto massivore and other sinking pellets, his sense of smell make up for his one eye. I imagine a polypterus would be the same

My 4 yo senegal just lost both eyes after trying to intrude on a female con an her babies. Hes fine though still active still eating.
