Who has bought there fx5's from ebay?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My LFS had them on sale for $225. and hey had them listed on ebay for $199.+shipping.

I talked to a distributor who told me that jobber price (what your LFS pays) for the fx5 with the sponges is around $165.. Most retail outlets sell with a 50% mark up.
He also warned to make sure your good deal on an fx5 has the foam before you hit the buy it now and also check the shipping. Sometimes sellers will inflate shipping and handling negating the good deal.
The latest flyer from TFP has them for $359.99.:screwy:

I am always for supporting local LFS to buy stuff. Because without them, a person would be left with big box chain petstores. Just my opinon on where to buy stuff if it is my choice.

Thats fine and dandy when it calls for small ticket items but when it comes to
saving hundreds or even thousands of $, you have to go where the best deal is.

In the past 2 years, I seen about 4 to 5 LFS in my area go out of business or are currently trying to sell off their stores. Usually there are no buyers for the fish stores and they will go out of business soon.

I know money is tight for everyone. But usually some LFS will try to work with customers for a good price on items.

Overall in just my opinion, I think local fish stores are a lot better than big box chain pet stores for a lot of reasons.

eBay is awsome! Do it. Just make sure the seller has good feedback. And if you're paying with paypal you're safe. If you never get your item just file a complaint with paypal and you get your money back
