Who has C. intermedia - Anyone breeding?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well,I don't mind raising the ones that I like and thank heavens the species that I like the most are quite plentiful.

I know what you mean....just expressing my boredom. Wish I could do more.

Yeah,I only have eyes for kelberi pretty much lol but I do feel for you guys who long for the rarer species to come into the hobby...I would like to attempt a spawning someday..don't know what I'd do with a bunch of baby Kels but it would be a nice achievement.

Not necessarily rarer species. Raising a tank full of WC ocells to big fat size with nice bright colors would be cool. If you look, many can raise cichla but how many actually raise them looking exceptional to adults?. So there's the challenge.

Agreed,I mention the rare species for the sake of the thread topic.

I'm with you. I mentioned ocell because some can't even walk and they want to run. For the sake of the thread topic.

Having never kept or even seen a live intermedia but have kept all the other species available to the hobby and have bred some as well, how sensitive are they? I've noticed that brokopondos for example seem to be more susceptible to HITH but I certainly wouldn't call them sensitive fish? Are intermedia that much more sensitive?

Only way is for people to keep them for years to see what the end result of the fish is but to some that sure is a long boring road...i had great looking kels that I couldn't breed so decide to start all over in hopes of getting a pair... It was a hard but i did it..I feel if you are able to get fish to breed for you in a tank you have advanced in the hobby. To help with boredom I find keeping other kinds of fish helps with keeping a fish a long time. It changes the everyday view you see.

Having fishes r hard. A lot work n time n money. Also a lot of stress n emotion.

I was thinking about quitting.
