how u doing it ? u boilng it an pulling the scales and flesh off?

Well, I first did it with boiling water, but the fish falls apart and if it doesn't, it falls apart when I take it out. This second skeleton is coming out much better just by pouring hot water over it and cutting the skin off. Then just tweezers to get the remaining meat off.

you can freeze dry it that's about your only option with that one. The slower the freeze drying process the better it will come out.

or you could put it in a jar of formalin but eventually it will turn brownish yellow.

Too bad just tossed a 10 year old male frontosa with a huge hump and an 18" silver aro
Been in my freezer since last winter. Wife made me toss em before the hot weather comes.

I wish you still had that aro! Arowana, bichir, and other prehistoric fish interest me the most. If anyone has a ray that would be nice. :naughty:

i may be able to send sturgeon, its 7 feetin length i have it in my walkin freezer at my home

He's in Russia anyway. Without proper permits he cannot send it. As for doing stingrays, just remember just like sharks their skeletons are made completly of cartilage. That my friend is a-whole-nother level of skeletal articulation. Hope you have the means to do freeze dried specimens. Get some disection manuals that will show you almost exactly where the skeleton is so that you don't accidentally cut through it.

Where can I buy the manuals?
