Who has had their wisdom teeth removed?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, i had 3 wisdom teeth and 2 molers removed all at once in venezuela. He was a pretty bad dentist that looked more like a butcher. He just broke all the teeth he had to remove (plus one next to a moler) and took them out in like 15 min. max. Again, he was probably a butcher faking being a dentist. Anyways, they were swollen for a few days then the swelling came down.

Anyways, it wasnt that painful, and i had a bad dentist. Your dentist will probably do it slower and better but it probably wont hurt that much

good luck, and dont freak out, it wont hurt that bad.

ugh I am freaking out now I get all 4 of mine removed march 8th. =[ I know at least one of the 4 is not rooted. Mine are growing in the direction of my teeth so they have to be removed -_- I hate things like this i get very very very nervous, never been through anything like this before. I had kidney stones so I am hoping those hurt worse then this will. I hate anything that deals with needles/gas and hardcore pain meds b/c I get nausated and throw up easily. I think I may stick to advil (it took my stone pains away). I heard horror storys =[

Apparently kidney stones hurt more than childbirth, so you'll be fine.

I had two removed. Nothing to it. Walked in, they gassed me, I woke up, then went home. End of story.

i beg to differ. :screwy: that was stated by a man. clearly

anyways.
Ash and Bahamaqt00, dont freak out.

Its REALLY REALLY not that big of a deal.

You dont feel anything until after the drugs wear off. And even then, you'll have plenty of painkillers to cover up any pain afterwards.

Wisdom teeth removal is probably one of the most common procedures and really, the one thing blown the most out of proportion.

Your cheeks will be swollen for a few days and you may even have some bruising, but you'll be healed in no time.

Actually, when I took my Dad to the ER for both of his (He's had 2 in 5 years), it came from both females nurses and ER docs

2 in 5 years is lucky psh I had I think I am on 8 and this summer will be year 5. No thanks to a herditary thing I guess..they said I have walls of calcium in my kidneys.. yet my nails are brittle... wish it would donate lol.

I guess I ll see how it goes. I think I will try my best to stay away from the pain meds though.. usually doctor perscribed pain meds make me sick and throw up...I ll try my good ole advil first.

Alright so I had the procedure almost 12hrs ago and yes, I am in pain but it is not as bad as I thought. They knocked me completely out so I was counting backwards from 10 and by 5 I was completely out. My lower lip is still numb which is kind of annoying and thy gave me percoset which hopefully wont make me sick. I was hoping for something more like dilauded hehe ; ) I am eating apple sauce, yougurt, scrambled eggs, pretty much anything really soft. The only thing that is really gross is I can feel all of the stitches with my tounge and im scared they are going to get pulled on by the gauze that I have to keep on them. It just feels like a constant ache on all sides of my mouth. But on the good side, I havent been puking or nauseated or anything crazy like that. So all in all, it isn't that bad.....yet

I used to be terrified of the dentist. It was actually one of my deepest phobias. Then I got a fishing hook in the muscle of my right index finger in the summer of '08. The nurse said "Oh, you don't need anestethic, it comes right out. 2 seconds." I sat there howling for almost 5 minutes while the nurse pulled on that hook with pliars. And the hook won. It got stuck, and I finally opted for anestethic. Went back to the lake and kept fishing.

Getting hooked isn't usually that bad from what I've heard. Usually you can just pull it out, but this one was REALLY in there.

Long story short, I can now have cavities drilled or teeth pulled without a whimper. That's good because now I have to have somebody poking around in my mouth once a month to have braces tightnened. Not to say I enjoy it, but hell, it could be worse.

Good luck, don't think about it too much, and inhale/drink/inject whatever the oral surgeon offers you

I'm the same way, I can never eat or enjoy myself the day before the dentist, even if it's just a check up. When i get there I tense up and get really worried. Then when it's done I'm super tired and I sleep for like 12 hours...
Like comedian Daniel Tosh once said, it's like making an appointment to get punched in the face.

I can't wait to get my wisdom teeth removed. :irked:

Dentist phobia was the worst. You and Mamapuff just need a fishing hook in your finger! :headbang2
Just kidding. When I was 11, I would stew for over a week before a routine checkup and cleaning. I even cried while the dentist brushed my teeth. It's not a fun phobia, but the worst thing you can possibly do is to think about it. Don't think about it until you have to. Just remember, it won't kill you, and you are so much better off actually going. My dad never went to the dentist, and some of his teeth have actually cracked and fallen apart because of it.

Last time I had teeth pulled, I listened to my iPod. Nothing like a mix of laughing gas, pliars, and Born to Run...lol
