Who has kept a jaguar cichlid with africans

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
seems like an expensive snack scenario. I personally wouldn't do it, but then again I'm not to fond of africans anyways.

i did...not by choice...i bought a tank and the africans came with it.....they lived peacefully for awile. Seperoth (my jag) would snap about once every 3 months..mangling an african each time...till poof...no more africans

haha.. well i know that it doesn't work for people but for me it has... i depends on the fish lol..
i will get him his own tank soon.... i rescued him from a LFS and had no choice.. so i plopped him in the African tank and so far no problems.... the frontosa and him are good buddys lol...
if you know greenterra...you should then know he has a frontosa with his MONSTER jag and other monsters with no issues too

i still have my green terror with a few of my africans.. she has been with them for years.. she is so laid back she couldn't go anywhere else.. the one thing i take extra time to make sure she is fed.. africans eat everything in a instant.. the GT is just getting around to noticing its feeding time when i should be already finished... i drop it in front of her face..i have only kept baby jags with africans.. once they were about 2 inches i took them out..

haha true... mine are almost 3 inches and NO problems
i would just keep everyone well fed and a close eye for any aggression.. and an extra tank on hand if there is any problems down the road.. sometimes i think it works because it is just too busy for the jags to get into any trouble of tagging one african guy.. its like they are surrounded with dithers and constant distractions...they forget to be predators..:D

First..I never kept a Jag with africans...I kept a front with americans/australians:D
Second...Let me say I don't want anyone to see this and think it will work for them. Chances are it most likely won't.

Having said that, sometimes it just works.:)
It really depends on the fish..My big guys never ever looked twice at the Front which would have been a snack to them all.
